From an unknown Flemish nationalist to the country’s prime minister. Bart De Wever’s political career is remarkable, to say the least. But who is the person behind the public image? And how did he make his way to 16 Wetstraat?

‍

We see how, after the loss of his father, he helped shape the young N-VA and, through an alliance with CD&V, was given a new chance as party chairman. A legendary appearance on De Slimste Mens marked a massive turning point and led to the spectacular election victory of 2010. After 541 days of negotiations, a political defeat follows, after which De Wever sets his sights on Antwerp and becomes its mayor. Through interviews with friends, party colleagues, and opponents, this program seeks to reveal the person behind the politician.
